New Longchamp RTW Spring 2019

Anita Pallenberg and Veruschka were name-checked by Longchamp’s Sophie Delafontaine when speaking backstage about what inspired her for spring. She said she was trying to channel a woman who was “elegant and chic, but had a twist of eccentricity.”

This translated to a lineup with a palette of cobalt blue, chocolate brown and clay reds shown in a mix of layered dresses, tunics and vests. Delafontaine diluted the rich tones with several pieces in a leopard print and some semisheer maxidresses in a bright ikat.

She highlighted the French house’s history of leather craftsmanship with leather details that popped up throughout the collection. Delafontaine homed in on iconic Sixties pieces like fringed halter tops and dresses and suede shorts, pairing many looks with a thigh-high gladiator sandal, many of which were also embellished with fringe.

Replica Handbags are synonymous with the privately owned house; Delafontaine updated her cross-body Amazone bag, introduced in fall; on the runway, it was reimagined in a variety of iterations, some with earth stone details with lambskin, a few with fur and of course, more fringe. The fringe was heavy-handed and could have been dialed back some, as nearly every look had some sort of fringe accent.

The show was a big statement for the brand: It’s the label’s 70th anniversary and it recently opened a new flagship on Fifth Avenue, which was the raison d’être of the New York show.

“The American market is a huge market for us,” Delafontaine said. “I feel a positive dynamic energy here and doing the show here is not only about our past, but about the future of the brand.”

Kate Middleton’s Love of Cheap Longchamp Tote Bags

kate-middleton

Let’s be real for a second and acknowledge that 99 percent of Kate Middleton’s royal wardrobe is pretty inaccessible to us normal people. She is, after all, a princess with a princess’s budget! But, surprisingly, one of the Duchess’ favorite accessories has been (and will likely always be) a cheap Longchamp tote bag which, frankly, is a bit more affordable for the masses. In fact, you could probably run out right now and buy the same one Kate has!

Kate’s obsession with the colorful, nylon, Longchamp Le Pilage totes — which retail for $145 goes back several years. In fact, one of the earliest times she was photographed carrying one was back in November 2005 during a holiday shopping spree with her mother, Carole Middleton, in London. At the time, Kate was just a 23-year-old, recent college graduate lugging around all her crap in a giant, black tote bag like the rest of us. Relatable, right?

Fast forward a few years and Kate married Prince William, became the Duchess of Cambridge, and had two beautiful children. Since becoming an official royal, Kate has sadly stopped using a cheap Longchamp bag day-to-day to instead carry teeny, tiny clutches instead. We really can’t blame her because what does she really need to carry with her at this point? She has people for that, duh. But, just when you thought Kate’s obsession with the chic tote bags stopped in the mid-2000s, it definitely didn’t…

Though the Duchess herself hasn’t been spotted carrying a Longchamp in several years, her personal assistants and stylists still seemingly lug around Kate’s belongings in the classic bags. Crazy, right? When Kate and William touched down in Assam, India during their royal tour of India and Bhutan in April 2016, the mom-of-two’s personal secretary Sophie Agnew and stylist Natasha Archer were both photographed carrying Longchamp totes with the rest of Kate’s luggage.

While we don’t actually know if the large, dark purple tote or the smaller, pea green bag in the pics belonged to Kate, if her right-hand women carry cheap Longchamps too they must be pretty fashionable, right? We’re hopeful Kate still loves the bags as much as the rest of the world seems to because, honestly, it just makes us love her a little bit more.
