There’s a station for you to personalise your favourite cheap Longchamp bag
Longchamp has added its third location in Malaysia with the opening of its new Suria KLCC boutique. The latest Longchamp outlet reflects the interiors of the French luxury brand’s flagship store in Paris with contrasting wood panels, leather and rich fabric.
The 2000-sq-ft boutique offers both women’s and men’s accessories collections, ranging from the brand’s popular Le Pliage foldable totes to luggage bags. For an extra personalised touch, the store also has a customisation service, allowing you to stamp your initials on your beloved Longchamp items.
Let’s be real for a second and acknowledge that 99 percent of Kate Middleton’s royal wardrobe is pretty inaccessible to us normal people. She is, after all, a princess with a princess’s budget! But, surprisingly, one of the Duchess’ favorite accessories has been (and will likely always be) a cheap Longchamp tote bag which, frankly, is a bit more affordable for the masses. In fact, you could probably run out right now and buy the same one Kate has!
Kate’s obsession with the colorful, nylon, Longchamp Le Pilage totes — which retail for $145 goes back several years. In fact, one of the earliest times she was photographed carrying one was back in November 2005 during a holiday shopping spree with her mother, Carole Middleton, in London. At the time, Kate was just a 23-year-old, recent college graduate lugging around all her crap in a giant, black tote bag like the rest of us. Relatable, right?
Fast forward a few years and Kate married Prince William, became the Duchess of Cambridge, and had two beautiful children. Since becoming an official royal, Kate has sadly stopped using a cheap Longchamp bag day-to-day to instead carry teeny, tiny clutches instead. We really can’t blame her because what does she really need to carry with her at this point? She has people for that, duh. But, just when you thought Kate’s obsession with the chic tote bags stopped in the mid-2000s, it definitely didn’t…
Though the Duchess herself hasn’t been spotted carrying a Longchamp in several years, her personal assistants and stylists still seemingly lug around Kate’s belongings in the classic bags. Crazy, right? When Kate and William touched down in Assam, India during their royal tour of India and Bhutan in April 2016, the mom-of-two’s personal secretary Sophie Agnew and stylist Natasha Archer were both photographed carrying Longchamp totes with the rest of Kate’s luggage.
While we don’t actually know if the large, dark purple tote or the smaller, pea green bag in the pics belonged to Kate, if her right-hand women carry cheap Longchamps too they must be pretty fashionable, right? We’re hopeful Kate still loves the bags as much as the rest of the world seems to because, honestly, it just makes us love her a little bit more.
French luxury brand Longchamp’s Fall/Winter 2017-18 accessories line doffs its hat to some of the season’s key trends: optical art, structured shapes and boho chic.
The 65 year-old brand is well-known for its iconic Le Pliage. Inspired by Japanese origami in its effortless ability to fold into an elegant pouch, the tote can be seen everywhere, in every colour and in artist-inspired limited editions.
The creative inspiration for their new Fall/Winter women’s replica bags is the 1970s Parisienne, a free-spirited, independent, strong woman embracing the trends of her time. Titled L’Art D’être Une Femme, the art of being a woman, the collection previewed in an artfully recreated Parisian apartment at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel in Mumbai on 10-11 May.
In all the four lines in the new Longchamp outlet collection, the Pénélope Arty tote is the most arresting. It references Victor Vasarely’s Op art and geometric architectural prints. The optical illusion and kinetic depth is recreated with handcrafted patchworks of treated leather meticulously stitched together for painterly effect. The play of textural differences—matte, gloss, metallic and velvet—cleverly reinforces the illusion of depth. Helmed by artistic director Sophie Delafontaine, this Op-art detail showed in the brand’s Fall/Winter ready-to-wear collection as well.
The Arty bag is easy to carry. Drawstring tassels, a playful detail, are a clever carry-forward from the existing Pénélope line. And there is a generous zippered pocket inside. Luxury leather longchamp handbags outlet tend to literally weigh you down but a noticeable feature of cheap Longchamp bags is their surprising lightness even when they are crafted in full leather. The secret is a patented technique to treat leather so that it retains its grain but remains incredibly supple. The other secret to lightness is to keep metal hardware to the minimum, as they do.
Besides Pénélope Arty, there is L’Effrontée, which is smaller in size and shape, targeted at “the slightly impertinent woman with lots of character”. The cross-body version packs in a lot of space. The combination of sizes lends itself easily to bag layering. The Madeleine is for the purist, with a rich grain finish and a silver bamboo-inspired clasp, an echo from the brand’s Russo Club line. For Le Pliage fans, there is the new Jeremy Scott designed graphic tote in fire-engine red.
Longchamp is taking pre-orders; the new collection will be in outlet stores in September.
